Shopping in Kuala Lumpur

Shopping in Kuala Lumpur reflects the development of the city itself in that new Malls have sprung up around the city, whilst the traditional markets have taken a back seat, and although not vanished completely they are nowhere near as common as they used to be. The Golden Triangle, based around the Petronas Towers, is where the key shopping areas can be found, along with the best hotels and the main tourist areas.

Suria KLCC Shopping Mall

One of the highest profile Malls in Kuala Lumpur is the Suria KLCC, which is located within the Petronas Towers building and has city development status. There are plenty of designer brands and upmarket stores here, befitting the whole image of the place really, which is one of modernity and style. Another popular Mall for designer goods is the Starhill Shopping Centre, located within the Golden Triangle so close by for visitors and with a great choice of shops for anyone serious about getting the very latest fashions from top names.

Berjaya Times Square Mall

Probably the largest shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur is the Berjaya Times Square, offering 10 storeys of retail therapy, with major retailers providing pretty much every product line available. To give some indication of size Borders bookstore here is the largest in South East Asia, and with restaurants, cafes, an IMAX theatre and even Malaysia’s largest indoor theme park – Cosmo’s World – here as well this really is a place with something for everyone.
